How do I import trades from a broker CSV?

Open Import (or use Import CSV from the journal empty state), drop your export, and CandleTrace will auto-detect the broker when possible. Confirm currency when prompted, review parsed fills, then commit into the selected account.

Which broker CSV formats are supported?

Adapters cover common MT4/MT5 history exports, Binance, Bybit, and NEPSE TMS-style files. If auto-detect misses your format, pick the broker manually on the upload step and map columns before importing.

Can I add trades manually?

Yes. Use Add Trade from the command palette or journal. Enter an open position or a full closed round-trip; leave exit fields blank to keep the trade open. You can also push size/levels from the position calculator into the form.

Yes. From Settings → Data Management, export your complete trade history across accounts, or export the current journal scope from the journal table when available.

What happens if I import the same CSV twice?

Import uses duplicate detection so re-uploading the same fills should not create identical journal rows. Review the preview step and skip or adjust any rows that look already present before confirming.

What is Daily Trade Guardrail?

Daily Trade Guardrail is CandleTrace's overtrading protection. You set a per-account daily limit on new position opens. When you hit it, Add Trade shows the same check-in UI: Cancel Order, or Proceed Anyway on gentler modes. Closes, stop edits, and scale-ins do not count against the limit.

When does Daily Trade Guardrail interrupt a trade?

It fires when you try to open a new position after reaching your daily open limit for that account's trading day. The trading day resets at your configured UTC reset time (for example 22:00 UTC for forex/crypto, or NEPSE's market close), not at local midnight. Soft mode is dismissible; friction override requires a timed pause and a written reason; full stop blocks new opens until reset with no bypass.

Can I change Daily Trade Guardrail settings?

Yes. Open Settings → Accounts → Daily trade guardrail. Choose a preset (1, 2, 3, or 5) or a custom limit, pick enforcement mode, and set the trading-day reset time. Tightening applies immediately; loosening waits until the next reset so you cannot impulsively raise the cap mid-session.

How do prop firm drawdown limits work?

Create a prop account with daily and max drawdown limits, profit target, and calculation type. The prop safety banner surfaces remaining buffer so you can see how close you are to firm rules while journaling.

How does the position size calculator help with risk?

Open the calculator from the top bar (Alt+C) or use the public tool at /calculator without logging in. Set account risk, stop distance, and market (NEPSE kitta, forex lots, crypto units, US shares), then apply the result into a new trade so size matches your risk plan.

What is the Discipline Score?

Discipline Score is your journal quality metric. It splits process (stop/target usage, risk:reward, consistency of daily returns) from outcome (win rate, Calmar, geometric daily return), scored per market. It needs 10 closed trades and 5 trading days. Calmar stays a period figure until 20 trading days, then annualizes. Caps are reasoned estimates, not backtested constants, so scores round to one decimal with a label like Solid or Needs work. Daily Trade Guardrail is separate: it limits how many new opens you can take per trading day.

Can I track multiple trading accounts?

Yes. Add personal or prop accounts in Settings, then switch the active account from the top bar. Journal, analytics, and imports scope to the selected account so prop challenges stay separate from personal books.

How is my account secured?

Authentication uses Supabase Auth (email and Google sign-in). Your journal data is protected with row-level security so each user only reads and writes their own rows. Never share your password or recovery links.

How do I delete my account and data?

Open Settings → danger zone and follow Delete Account. CandleTrace removes journal entries, trades, accounts, strategies, and profile data before deleting the auth user. Export a CSV backup first if you want a local copy.

What if I fail or finish a prop challenge?

Accepted Answer

Mark the prop account inactive in Settings. History stays available if you reactivate later, but inactive accounts leave the top-bar switcher so you do not journal into a completed challenge by mistake.
